When John passed away in 2011, his wife asked Don Murphy from Murphy’s Bar and Grill and J.J. Niebuhr and Danny Dolan from J.J. Dolan’s if they would be interested in purchasing the bar. She knew that it would make John happy to know that the bar was in the capable hands of his trusted friends. So, the trio teamed up and took on Ferguson’s as their own.
After renovating the bar from top to bottom, J.J., Danny, Don and General manager Brian Blair reopened Ferguson’s in May of 2012. A couple of months after opening, Brian bought into the business and became the 4th partner. He and his wife Amy Blair continue to run the day to day operations.
Located in the historic Dillingham Transportation Building, the newly renovated Ferguson’s is arguably among the most beautiful bar’s in downtown Honolulu. With a wonderful wine list, a superior liquor selection and a superb offering of small plates for the pau hana crowd, we think John would have been very happy, indeed.
